SEOPinoy goes International

While checking the logs of my traffic I found a huge boost in SEOPinoy’s
traffic. I search all my traffic logs
And checking where it did came from, to my surprise I found people
that are talking about how dangerous link exchange is. Which I recently
blog about it here. The traffic came from a popular SEO forum in Germany.
I’ve used language translator to check what are they talking about my
blog post. The language translator I’ve used is a free online translator
which offers only limited translation which results to a not so accurate
translation. But according to the translator a senior member of the
forum told on how Google look into link exchange. Oh well, if there
is someone who could translate it to me I would join the
forum and discuss things with them.

Adsense in the Philippines FAQ

Adsense Logo
Since there are lot of Filipino asking for it I have decided to write Adsense in the Philippines 101.

What is Google Adsense?

AdSense is the advertising program by Google. It’s basically displaying Google Adwords advertisement in your website either text or image ads.

How will I earn from Google Adsense?

There are two options in Google Adsense for you to earn money $ from this advertising program by Google. First is through cost-per-click (CPC) and through cost-per-1000-impression (CPM).

What is cost-per-click and cost-per-1000-impression?

Cost-per-click simply means if someone click your ads from your website it automatically generate earnings to your account. A click usually cost $.10-$.30. But if you display Philippines ads in your site you usually will get $0.03 or nothing at all (shrug).

Cost-per-1000 means every 1000 times Google Ads appear in your website you will be paid for it. I saw usually $0.01 per 1000 impression.

Is there a minimum payout before I can get my check?

Yes, atleast you have to earn $100 before Google will send checks to you.

What is a PIN?

A pin is a code that will be sent to your mailing address in your Google Adsense account. This is the way that will help Google verify your address. So make sure you’ve enter the right address in your Google Adsense account.

How long my Google PIN before it will arrive to my address?

It really depends but usually it will take 3-10 weeks. It really depends on your location. I heard some horror stories that they didn’t receive their Google PIN in almost a year then eventually led to the closure of their account because Google has time limit before they will deactivate your account. One of the solution that will help you is try to use different mailing address( use your relatives address) and just let them know that you will receive a mail from Google. Usually postman is not strict in the identity of the receiver of the mail.

What will I choose dollar or peso check?

Based on experience, its better to choose peso check rather than dollar check because dollar check is hard to encash.

How to encash peso check from Adsense?

There are two ways to do it. It’s either you will deposit it to your bank account or just go to Citibank Makati and instantly encash your check. Just bring 2 valid ID’s. So if you’re not from Metro Manila it’s advisable to choose the first option. The only problem with option 1 is some of the bank won’t accept checks deposit to your account if you’re not an account holder on their bank in the last 6 months. Though there are lot of banks out there. Try and try until you found the right bank for your adsense check.

How to encash your dollar check from Adsense?

Please refer here for extensive details on how to encash your dollar check.

I hope this information will help you in your Adsense quest. Looking to hear questions/comments/suggestions from you regarding the topic. Feel free to leave a comment below.

March Madness starts today

64 teams will fight for the supremacy for the 2007 NCAA division 1 mens title. And I’m a big basketball fan like Matt Cutts. One of my favorite to win this year NCAA’s title would be North Carolina Tar heels. Though Duke still a competitor for the title. Florida is still on the hunt for the title and Maryland. Just like the past years, I think anyone has the chance to win the ring. The whole NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Championship bracket/ schedule can be viewed here.

Back from vacation

After a 4 day vacation I’m back to the online world. I must say I really miss working again and facing my PC. But I will also miss our vacation. During our Davao vacation we had lot of fun. We made lot of pictures and videos of the beautiful island of Samal in Davao del Norte. We also made a 3g call or videoconferencing on some of our friends in Manila. It’s actually my first time making a video call and I was amazed how fast the connection even in rural area.

SEO becoming popular in the Philippines

I know lot of people in the Philippines still not aware of SEO. But not for too long. Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing are now becoming popular job in the Philippines. Before the most popular job for Information Technology related industry was programmer and developer. Now SEO/SEM are already sharing the spot. The salary of a SEO specialist is almost equal to a programmer. As the internet develop more, SEO are becoming popular as well. What made SEO become more in demand than the programmer? I think it’s because of the different free/paid open-source programs available now in the internet. So how far do you think SEO will go? I think as long there are increase in internet awareness of the people the more demand for a SEO specialist. Now I’m thinking of University will open degree course for Search Engine Optimization soon. I won’t be surprised if AMA and STI will offer this course on their colleges. Let’s see what happen in the next 2-3 years.
