Finally I’ve decided to write about Black Hat SEO which I promised to you last week. I’ve wrote this article because I’ve wanted those people who aren’t aware of the danger it will bring to your website.
What is Black Hat SEO?
Black Hat SEO is an SEO technique of manipulating search results by illegal methods. Black Hat SEO’s are either used to boost rankings of their site or to make a competitor’s site to be banned by Search Engines.
What are the Black Hat SEO methods?
Cloaking - other words for stealth. Search Engine will see pages different from human. Usually affiliate programs are being displayed on these pages.
Excessive keyword repetition - Because search engines rely on keywords in their algorithm keyword spamming is one of the common techniques used by webmaster to manipulate search results.
Hidden text or links - Also a keyword spamming techniques. Hidden text are being used to rank to some keywords. These will help in ranking in to keywords that are being search by human because as I’ve already told keywords are part of Search Engines algorithm so if you place lot of hidden keywords on your site then the possibility that you will gain traffic from SERPs is huge because you’ve put lots of hidden keywords in your site.
Deceptive redirects - Misleading someone to be redirected to another pages .
Doorway pages - A webpage is redirecting to another website that’s main purpose is for marketing their products or affiliate programs. This can simply be done by a 2 lines 301 redirect.
What are the Black Hat SEO’s Myth?
I have read few people claiming that their victim of black hat SEO. Because their rankings suddenly dropped in SERP. The reason that they told that their victim of Black Hat SEO is because bad neighborhood linking to them. Just remember that Search Engines wont penalize you on these type of instances otherwise all spammers out there will do these to their competitors. Just don’t reciprocate to them if you don’t want to get penalize by Search Engines.
What are the things you should do if you suspect that you are being black hat?
Just check all your pages if their working fine. Find the pages where they manage to infiltrate and do the black hat technique such as deceptive redirects, cloacking and doorway pages. Because it is the most probable cases that will happen to your site.
What if I found out my competitors are using black hat SEO?
Report them directly to Search Engines.
