Godaddy: Sending E-mail Problems using Outlook Express

Configuring Outlook Express for Godaddy Email:

1. Log in to Web-Based Email at email.secureserver.net.
2. From the Help menu, select Email Client Settings.
3. Make a note of your incoming and outgoing server information.
4. Continue with the procedures outlined below to set up your email client.

Here’s the story. After configuring my Email Via Outlook Express, I’ve tried to send an email from my Gmail account to Godaddy Email. And It works, I received it on my Outlook Express Inbox. And after that, I’ve tried to send an email from Outlook Express to my Gmail Account. I’ve got an error message which said something like this:

Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server smtpout.secureserver.net failed. The server may be unavailable or refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your SMTP server setting is correct and try again, or else contact your network administrator.

Hmm, not good. So I’ve tried reading some materials on Godaddy FAQ’s and searching it on Google. Looks like I’ve found the answer. I’ve changed the default Port 25 to Port 80 or you can use Port 3535 whatever works for you. If these does not solve your problem in other version of Outlook Express, you can always use other email client program. I recommend Mozilla Thunderbird. You can download it here for free.

Never Use Fantastico!

Fantastico Logo
Today, I just discovered that I will not received my payout from LinkWorth because there’s a code inserted in my site that says “no follow”. My first reaction was “What the F!”. I’m really upset because I’m not using any of these codes, ever! I’ve checked my robots.txt if there’s something wrong with it, but there’s nothing unusual on the code. So I’ve dig deeper on what could have been wrong with the site. After few minutes, I’ve finally found the answer to my question. It’s probably the Wordpress installation using Fantastico. Not sure what’s wrong with Fantastico, but I have lots of instances that I’ve got “no follow” code on my site inserted when I’ve installed wordpress using Fantastico.

What is Fantastico?

Fantastico is a commercial script library that automates the installation of web applications to a website. Fantastico scripts are executed from the administration area of a website control panel such as cPanel. Fantastico’s web site claims that they are installed on ten thousand servers, with a million users worldwide. from wikipedia

My solution, never use Fantastico in installing your wordpress script to your site. Just install it the traditional way by downloading it on the official download page of Wordpress and you can be sure there will be no script will be inserted in your site without your knowing. Not sure what other scripts have this problem, but for me I’ll stay away from Fantastico from now on. Oh BTW, I came up with these conclusion after fixing about 50+ sites on hostgator and hostpapa server.

New Article-Writing Services Website Launched

Website owners now have a new website to go to when looking for professionally-written and affordable content.

Your Article Resource (YAR) was launched yesterday and promises to give webmasters and bloggers what they want when it comes to their sites’ content. The website offers three basic packages: Lite, Regular and Jumbo which contains 10, 50 and 100 articles respectively.

All of these packages already include the writing and editing of the articles plus checking for their uniqueness using Copyscape. This ensures website owners will get accurate and unique content which is important in putting up a reputable website.

However, if the needs of website owners are not covered by the packages, all they have to do is contact YAR and a customized package will be made for them. Some of the other services that the site offers include e-book writing, editing, website design and basic graphic design.

One of the things that webmasters worry about is the reliability of the writers that they get. All of the writers of Your Article Resource are carefully screened not only for their writing ability but also for their professional conduct. “All of our writers have at least two years of experience in web writing, so that webmasters can rest assured that their content are in good hands,” said Ced Solidon, the webmaster and head editor of YAR.

As for the price, YAR offers very competitive rates. Webmasters can get their articles for as little as $13 each with as much as 7 free articles.

For more information about YAR and their services, please visit www.yourarticleresource.com.

Paypal Scam

I just received an email from a fake email address accts@paypaI.com, and here’s the screenshot of the mail they’ve sent to me.

pp-scam1.jpg

On the email they wrote there that my account got limited. They gave a link to their website, http://pp201.pya.jp/PP and they will redirect you to their homepage,

pp-spam1.jpg
Looks like they clone the paypal website, but funny thing is they can’t make the layout on the proper position.

I just wrote this blog post to make people aware on this new scam. I’ll also give tips on how to get rid of this scam. Be sure not to login to any site without “https://” , As you can see I’ve made emphasis on the letter S. Make sure you’re logging in to https://paypal.com not any other URL.

I know there are lot of scam like these, and this is not new to many. But I just want to give some pointers on people who’s not aware of this.

Hostgator Sucks part II

I just want to tell my experience on hostgator because I’m pretty much upset on another temporary suspension of my account. Yesterday I received an email to them and they told me that one of my website consumes 25% of the CPU and they have to temporarily suspend my account without warning again! I’m clueless on what might cause of the problem. So I’ve emailed them to activate my account so that I can fixed the problem. After 12 hours or so I received a response from them

It looks as though 216.8.149.141 ip was hitting your account thousands of times causing it to slow. I will enable the account and block that IP, thanks.

WTF, so they suspend my account because someone’s trying to access one of my sites for thousands of times? Now think again before you will purchase a hosting account on Hostgator.
