Google Finally Explained Their Policy on Google Ads Next To Images

Google Adsense Logo

I have just read the Official Google Adsense blog and just found that Google ads
next to Images are not strictly been monitored due to confusion from visitors. This blog post was been added to Adsense official blogs because there is a high demand
of request about this Google ads next to images.

I think it’s a good move by Google to clearly clarify their policy on Google ads
next to images because there are lots of Adsense forums from different webmaster
forums are asking about the clear policy on this issue. I think it’s also a good move
because advertiser can be sure that they’re getting quality clicks and something
worth of their money. It’s a win-win situation for both publisher and advertiser about
this blog post.

Pubcon Report Part 1

pubcon logo
Here’s the Part 1 of my Pubcon report. But hopefully I can add at least 5 Pubcon reports.
I’ve learned lots from the people who went there(though I’m not there) but I still
manage to know what happen there by reading lots of blogs of people who went there.
Here’s one of the blogs that caught my eye. It’s Matt Cutt’s blog ( Google Engineer)

He mentioned on his blog that he met Marc Hill Macalua and talked about our 2nd Philippines
SEO contest. It feels great if someone from the other side of the world recognized
our SEO contest. Ok, here’s a quick discussion
what happen there. I have to focus on reciprocal links, on how they will affect your
sites rankings.

If you are currently on your campaign of link exchange here are some tips
that Matt Cutts mentioned on pubcon.

1. Google algorithm are now designed to know if you’re doing reciprocal linking to
increase the link popularity. So having lots of links in your links page will surely hurt your
site’s rankings.

2. Stop doing reciprocal linking but focus on your content and make your site more appealing
to your readers so that your site will become popular and more people will link to your site.

Is link exchange still applicable in SEO or link building?

Yes, but make sure you don’t do it obviously by adding lots of reciprocal links to your site.
Look for quality sites instead of quantity reciprocal links. In other words limit your reciprocal linking
and add lots of contents to make a compelling site that attract viral buzz or word of mouth.

How to get .edu links?

I’m thrilled with these discussion over webmaster forums about having .edu link. I’m thrilled because it seems like they are very important for your success in SERP. It was rumored to be will give big weight to your sites rankings. Just of last week someone offered me a .edu link but I will not give the URL because this might devaluate the importance of the link it will provide.

Getting .edu link is very hard. So webmasters are finding ways on how to get one. I will give you some simple tips on how to do it.

1. Build something that a school worth linking to. If you could offer something that is very informative to their student that they could recommend. No $$$ lost. Just make sure you will get notice by soliciting your articles through the school administrator.

2. If you know someone from that college and he has access in the college website and can accept money to add your link.

3. Contact the school administrator and Donate reasonable amount and ask them to put your link somewhere in their links page. Most of the .edu link has links page so it’s not that hard to request for a backlink from them.

4. There are some webmaster forums where an individual offer links from .edu link in return for $XXX. You can search for a thread here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58 and you will see few individuals that offer this one.

5. Colleges are offering free hosting for their student so if your enrolled in a college or know someone from a college then ask for a favor to add your link to his site that is hosted by their college.

Although 4 of the tips here are just simply bribing. I would recommend the 1st tip to be done first rather than the next 4. Happy bribing…oppsss did I just say that.. Good luck with your quest on looking for a possible .edu backlinks.

12 scenario why link exchange is dangerous

I’m very busy with lot of projects lately thats why I didn’t find time to update my ituloy angsulong official entry. Finally I have allocated time for these. Ituloy angsulong SEO Pinoy!

Lets have a deeper look on how dangerous is link exchange. I’ve wrote this article so that people will be aware what they’re doing. Link Exchange is part of SEO basics. But how dangerous is link exchange in your website?

So your a newbie in Search Engine Optimization and you have read that Link Exchange is important in link building. So you have posted on forums and email few webmaster about your link exchange inquiry. And your very happy because you got response from those people you’ve emailed. Great you have now “link partners”. So how calm I told you why Link Exchange is dangerous? Here are the scenario that link exchange is dangerous.

1. Link Exchange also means reciprocal linking. Search Engines won’t banned you if there are few bad neighborhood( porn, gambling, and pharmacy sites) linking to you. But if you reciprocate to them then theres your problem will come. So the number one rule in link exchange is “Don’t link to bad neighborhood”.

2. Link Exchange is dangerous when a link partner suddenly went offline. It means without your notice you’re linking to dead website. This will make Search Engine bots mark your website linking to dead URL.

3. As a continuation to #2 Link Exchange scenario if the site is shifted to another page and there’s no 301 redirect or 404 to the link your linking then its another dead URL you are linking to. Still bad for your site.

4. Most of the webmaster or link builder I’ve transacted with is they suddenly remove your link. So better make sure your site isn’t remove from their links page.

5. Link pages becomes Link Farm. It will give your link no benefit at all.

6. I also encounter that my links are being move into deeper URL without my notice. Remember if your link is into deeper URL of the site then it will take time before your link will be crawled by bots and it’s almost useless for your site.

7. Frames are being used by webmaster sometimes. Remember Frames are not SEO friendly so you must check if the links are still SEO friendly.

8. Flash links page are now being used by webmasters. Still not SEO friendly. What is SEO friendly means? It means that you have a plain live link. (A simple HTML link)

9. Javascript are being used nowadays. I saw a website where they place my link inside a javascript that retrieves links from their DB. Everytime the pages load it show different link. So beware of this type of site. Always check your website.

10. What are the signs that website are being moved into uncrawlable page? If the site changes PR and it the site has no PR at all. How to check if your theory is correct? Just type your URL on Google, Yahoo and MSN then press the cached page of your site. If they don’t show results then the site is not indexed and wont give you any benefit.

11. Three way link exchange is good only if you know you are dealing with. But if your not sure about your possible link partners then don’t link exchange with them because there is one scenario that will hurt your site. What if the one you are linking to suddenly turned into bad niche( porn, gambling ,and pharmacy sites.) This is a no no in SEO as I’ve said earlier.

12. Bottom line, always check the credibility of your link partners. Observe before linking to them. If this is not enough feel free to leave a comment and we will add it if I missed something to be added here.

How to outrank established websites?

Another busy day again for ituloy angsulong. I really missed SEO Pinoy yesterday because I have lots of works to finished.
As checking the rankings of SEO Pinoy I think the site’s ranking is what I really expected. I’m not expecting it to rank that high this month. But watch out in January because I’m confident we can make it on top 20 atleast.

Lets start again another SEO 101 for everybody reading my post. While browsing some popular webmaster/seo blogs I’ve saw this blog by Aaron Wall about Google Optimization. The title of the blog is “Can New Domains Outrank Old Websites in Google? ” .

This question is related to our ituloy angsulong campaign. I want to share this blog so that few of SEO wannabe out there won’t loose their composure and moral in this SEO contest( ituloy angsulong). Although this contest isn’t really fair for newbie in Search Engine Optimization because of the domain factor by Google and other factors related to the age of a site such as backlinks, and indexed pages. But there is still a chance to outrank websites that are on Top of the SERP eventhough this websites were running for quite a long time now.

Just to summarize the blog Aaron told on his blog to outrank old websites you need to have a killer content such as unique ideas. Something that people will comeback to your site and bookmark it. Also you must not just do what they’ve done before. You must double their effort as well.

So the bottom line it will took time before you can outrank old established websites. So be patient and do the hardwork to be able to outrank anyone in Google SERP.

Is Google PageRank really that important in SEO?

This is one of the favorite topic on webmaster/seo forums. Google Pagerank is one of the unique innovation by Google.
Lets have a Google Pagerank 101 for our ituloy angsulong reader.

What is Google Pagerank?

Google Pagerank is the technology implemented by Google to rank a website according to its quality. A website can be rank into 1-10. 10 as the highest. Pagerank are being updated “quarterly”. Note I quoted quarterly because almost every 3 months Google updating its datacenter. But it really depends on Google when will be the next update of the Google PageRank.

What is the importance of Google Pagerank?

A website with higher Pagerank gets crawled fast than other websites with lower PR. Also if have a live link from a website with higher PR your site will get crawled as well by Googlebots. This is one of the reason why an SEO prefered exchanging links with sites with higher PR.

Is Google Pagerank important in SERP?

Although Google PageRank is not directly related to SERPs but there are some instances that a websites with higher PageRank are ranking high in SERPs. The reason for this is if you have high PR websites then more probably similar niche websites will offer link exchange with your site because as I’ve said websites with higher PR are being crawled fast than other website with lower PR. It’s not directly related but still Google Pagerank affect the SERP I must say. But its just one instances why this happens.

How Pagerank are being determined by Google?

Its simple as this. If you have few backlinks from PR8 websites then most probably your website will have a PR7 or PR6. So if you have a PR5 backlinks then in the next toolbar update your site will receive PR4 or PR3.

How to get higher PageRank?

If you can put a link from few websites with similar niche and high PageRank then you will get you’re desired PageRank. You can either do these through link exchange or link buying. But beware of link buying because if your link is put on pages that are determined link farm then for sure Google will disregard the vote from that site and you won’t get any PageRank boost on your site. So be wise in buying link and exchanging links as well.

Directory Submission at a glance

This is the oldest SEO techniques I believe that is still the most popular for lots of SEO specialist.
Let me take a closer look on what are the good points in submitting to directories.
Before there was only DMOZ and Yahoo directory. But now there are lots of General directories now are being created everyday.

Here are the few advantages of Directories

1. Directories will give you one way link. One way link will help you boost your rankings in SERPs.
2. Directories will boost your Google Page rank.
3. Directories will give you traffic. This applies only to popular directories.

What are to be avoided in submitting to directories?

1. Don’t use reciprocals when submitting to directories. The reason for these is if the directories turned into link farm your site will not be penalize by Search Engines.

2. Don’t submit to Directories that are not serious about their directories because you’re just wasting your time if you will submit 20 links in that directory but you will get ignored or the directory won’t go anywhere after few months or a year.

Where can I submit my websites?

Submit your site to SEO friendly directories. Besides DMOZ.org and Yahoo directories. Here are the list of websites that you can submit your site.

Directory Critic
- Directory critic is a one stop list of directories arrange according to rankings of the directories. Here you can see new directories, niche directories and directories that are well loved by directory submitter because of fast approval, and high PageRank.

Digital Point Solicitation and Announcements thread - Digital Point members directories are being launched here. Be the first to be included on their directories. Mostly all directories here are SEO friendly, fast approval and you can suggest category. Great community for directory submitter because this is where all directorycritic, infovilesilencer and addurl.nu get inspirations.

Info Vilesilencer SEO friendly directories list - The original directories portal. Dan created this project about a year or two ago. He’s making sure that all directories are categorized from free, paid, reciprocals, and sites that aren’t approving any links for few weeks are being removed from the list.

Jim Westergren SEO friendly directories list - Jim Westergren has just created these project a while ago. And he’s currently working on his list almost everyday. All are SEO friendly directories.

What does SEO friendly directory means?

It means that your link from that directories are simply plain URL. No redirects or some crappy codes in the URL if you click your link in their site. Also I highly recommend that you submit your site from directories with SEO friendly URL i.e. www.directory.com/business , www.directory.com/sports/tennis

How many directory submission I will do everyday?

Just don’t submit too many. Just submit into minimal volume or you might trigger Search Engines algorithm.

What are the good directory script out there?

I recommend PHPLD, site-sift, and indexscript
