Google PageRank TB Updated Thrice This Month Already

I just noticed that the Google PR Toolbar updated thrice already in the last 4 weeks. And it’s something unusual because PageRank updates only 3-4 times in a year. There’s still no official statement on what is happening on PageRank TB update on Matt Cutts or GoogleWebmaster blog.

We’ll let’s hope that it’s something that Google working on to give us a better search results.

Today is the launched of the new Pinoy Blog Directory by Andrew of alleba.com, very popular pinoy search engine and directory. Ratified.org simply rank blogs according to technorati popularity and feedburner subscriber. Really nice way to measure a blogs credibility and quality. PageRank Update April 2007

The much awaited PageRank Update has already started base on the testimonials of some website owners. Usually this PR update will took 3-4 days like the other PR update. As of now still no changes on all of my sites. What is the importance of this PR update? As an SEO, this is the way they measure how successful their link building was. As of now different DC’s showing some changes in PR of some of the sites. Now, lets wait for the Toolbar update.

But there are lot of doubts that there is a PR update going on right now. Because some don’t see any updates from their sites.

Paid links are now being penalized by Google

After the official statement of Google here its actually Matt Cutts (Google Engineer) who told that you can report websites that are selling links. Someone in Digitalpoint ask if it will kill Text-link-ads?

My personal opinion on these is I don’t think it would happen. This is a big company in America and they can still get lot of publisher and advertiser eventhough Google has already taking actions on paid links. There are lot of good points where put up on the comments on the blog post. There are about 300+ and counting comments on the blog post. Here are few questions that came to my mind and base on the people responding on the blog.

1. Will I get banned from Google SERPs if I will be proven that I’m selling links?
2. If the penalty is not banning our website from Google SERPs what would exactly be the penalty?
3. How will Google know if its paid link or not?
4. Would you penalize Yahoo directory as well?
5. Or does Google will treat Directories to be excluded on this policy.
6. Will this policy should be applied to all? What about big company?
7. Why not penalize first text-link-ads and other text link broker? What are the action that Google will take on these text link brokers?
8. Whats next?

This is one of the popular blog post I guess by Matt Cutts. There are lot of negative comments about these move by Google. Especially the owners of websites that are selling text links to make a living. Kudos to Google for this move. But sadly some people will lose earnings or even their business. I just hope that this move will improve the search results.

April Fools Day hack

A group of hacker has just infiltrate a very popular blog of a Google Engineer. It was a perfect timing for hacker to vandal the blog of Matt Cutts. The site was hacked by the self proclaim “Dark SEO Team”. These guys made a very controversial hack this year.
Last year it was Jeremy’s blog a.k.a. shoemoney that has been hacked. A very popular guy in e-commerce and as an Adsense publisher. A Turkish group of hacker made it possible. On the other hand Matt Cutts blog was hacked by a Romanian group of hackers. When can I see a Filipino hacking a popular website? lol.. Now the question is who’s the next victim? Live .com backlink checker command offline

While checking the backlinks of some of my sites in MSN. (It’s my monthly task) I’ve experienced a problem when you type link:www.seopinoy.com it would show no results. It will leave you a blank page. Some users are seeing some XML error like these:

“XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=link%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2F
www.msn.com&mkt=en-gb&FORM=LVCP&go.x=23&go.y=12&go=Search
Line Number 1, Column 1:”

But here’s the trick you could do in order to see your backlinks in MSN.

1. Go to http://hotbot.com
2. type “link:www.seopinoy.com”
3. Then click the MSN button in the underneath the search box. Whoala it’s done.

I hope this one helps. This problem was originally reported last March 25, 2007 and we just thought that this problem will last for few hours only but it seems it took too long than we expected. And also last weekend it was reported that MSN live search is down for few hours which returns these results:

I think they should fix all the problems first before they will advertise and market it. It seems to be that there is still ongoing construction of the Search Engine. Well I just hope that the new search algorithm of MSN would be as competitive as Google soon.

Yahoo Mobile launched

After Google mobile search, Yahoo has just released their own version of mobile search called “oneSearch”. Whats new with these is oneSearch gives wide variety
of results. For example you type “49ers” and press search it will give you the
team websites, scores, news, and lot more about the 49ers. Meaning 49ers is
more powerful than ever. This is what it would look like
