How to encash your Dollar check in the Philippines
Are you having problem encashing your dollar check from Google Adsense cheque, PayPerPost cheques, Adbrite check , ReviewMe, check, Commission Junction check and other affiliate programs check? BTW if you’re not familiar with ReviewMe, and PayPerPost it’s a portal for clients buying text links with anchor text to be embedded to a blog post. Well usually this is the biggest problem Pinoy SEO/Webmaster is facing. After reading few blogs and forum discussion about how to encash your Dollar check, this is my review on it.
First you need a dollar account. But having a dollar account isn’t that easy because usually banks don’t accept dollar account application if you don’t have regular bank account from them in the last 6 months. Here are the recommended bank that you can open bank account easily. Banco De Oro(BDO) Bank and Asiatrust Bank are top two banks that you should look for.
How to Open Dollar Bank Account on BancoDeOro Bank
1. You need 2-3 valid(primary) ID (SSS, Driver’s License, TIN, Passport). NBI ID, School ID, Company ID and Birth Certificate are considered secondary ID. Try to bring all the ID you have because sometimes you will have problems in dealing with some teller of the bank.
2. Atleast $200. If you don’t have dollars you can buy from Money Exchangers.
3. And if they asked you where you will use it for. Just tell them it’s for your internet business. Some of the teller will be amaze so don’t be surprised if they will ask you more questions. Be prepared.
Just remember don’t open Dollar Remittance Account because they will not accept dollar check. Make sure you open Regular Dollar Savings Account.
Advantage of a BDO Regular Dollar Savings Account
1. The benefits of opening a bank account in BDO is the bank opens usually from 9am-6pm and if you will open an account in SM malls BDO is open until the 10am-7pm. Also BDO don’t charge
2. BDO don’t charge any transaction fees. And it will take 20-25 days clearing your check. Unlike other banks that usually takes 30-45 days.
How to Open Dollar Bank Account on AsiaTrust Bank
1. You need 2-3 valid(primary) ID (SSS, Driver’s License, TIN, Passport). NBI ID, School ID, Company ID, Postal ID and Birth Certificate are considered secondary ID.
2. Atleast $100 initial/maintaining balance.
My friend Jeff was actually having problems encashing his check from Google Adsense. Because he didn’t convert his check into peso. So to make life easier try to convert your Adsense earnings into Peso. I have actually opened a EPCI (now Banco de Oro) bank account to encash my Adsense check. But usually they will not encash your check if you don’t have an account in the last 6 months from them. I’m just lucky that they let my check deposited on my account. Though you can encash your check on Citibank main branch in Makati I choose to open a bank account and then deposit the check because I’m working in Eastwood City, Libis and it’s far away from Makati so I don’t have time to go there.
But if you still have problems encashing your Adsense check your last resort is your relatives that have good relationship with bank manager. Usually the bank manager is the one who are giving the final judgment if you can encash your check. So having good relationship with them will help you with your problem. You can have good relationship with them by just visiting them often. This will make them feel comfortable to you. As I have done these on my current bank.(LOL)
How to encash local or peso check in the Philippines?
There are 3 ways to encash your check.
1. You can deposit your check on your bank account, usually you will not pay fees. If they will charge you fees, you better start thinking of shifting your account to another banks. Just fill-out the bank’s deposit slip, and they will let you sign your check twice at the back of the check. Usually it will take 3 business days before your check will be cleared by the bank, and will be added to your bank account. Note that you can instantly see that your check has been added to your account, but you can’t withdraw it until the bank clear your check.
2. Go to the bank where your check has been issued. Usually you can see in your check on what bank you should go to encash your check. This time you have to fill-out the check slip. They will let you sign the check at the back twice and must provide atleast 1 valid I.D.s. But to be sure, bring 2 valid I.D’s. If you don’t have 2 valid ID’s, you can always talk to the teller nicely and ask to let them encash your check. Most of the time, it works for me.
3. I don’t really recommend this but if the above ways won’t work for you, here’s your last resort. If you know someone that can be the third party to encash your check, you can sign an affidavit that you are authorizing him/her to encash your check plus you have to let him have your valid ID. I think this one applies to a person with physical disabilities or old enough to go to the bank.
There you have it, if you have some question just hit me with the comment, and I will try to answer your questions.

I’ve tried to encash my check but they won’t allow unless I open a dollar account with them. Tried it with my bank bpi and they did accept it but they said it will take 45 to 60 days to clear. It’s a long wait so I advise you to convert your currency into peso on payment settings because it will be easier to encash your check later.

Thanks, it’s a great help.
I tried to encash my check at bpi, they said it has to be at least 200 USD per check they will not encash if lesser and they will ask big transaction fee. Do these two banks you mentioned above have required amount per check?
Thanks again.

just received my $50.50 dollar check from friendfinder(dot)com and I inquired to UnionBank hotline and asked them if it’s possible to be deposited to my EON Visa Card and they said it is possible but the clearing time is one month hehehe.

@mei – you can always call the bank to ask for their minimum required amount. As they always update their policy every other time.

Hello Nathaniel,
You can deposit it to your bank, and they will be the one to convert your money, and deposit to your account. It will take 3 business days for your check to be cleared and deposited to your account.
