Linkwheel Strategy – Link building Scheme

I’m back once again for another SEO tips on this SEO Blog, this time will tackle about a link building scheme that has been widely used now by SEO and webmasters called linkwheel.

What is Linkwheel?

It is a link building strategy where as webmasters try to build links from related websites in wheel-type structure. The primary beneficiary of this link wheel is the main site. Basically the logic behind these link schemes is to support each sites without reciprocating and helping the money site.

Linkwheel structure:

1. Site A links to site B; site B links to site C and until the last site links to site A.
2. Site A- Site X (where x is the number of sites) all link to the main site.

Is it effective in link building?

In my opinion, yes it helps a lot. I’ve seen lot of webmasters hiring people to create mini-sites and blogs for them. They’re creating sites from keyword rich domains, dropped PR domains, free bloggers domains, and some by renting links from various website owners. For some to be able to get away from Google’s radar, they’re trying to host their site from different IP’s.

Linkwheel is not a new SEO strategy. It is already being used for few years now. I think there will be more and more linkbuilding schemes will be invented over the years.

New Adsense Interface

Today, Google Adsense release it’s new interface. The new interface is still in beta phase. Another upgrade from Google series of products. Personally the new interface is a bit more relaxing in the eyes because they’ve used one of my favorite color. lol. I haven’t explored the new interface, but at first look I can say this is way better on the old interface aside from it looks good in the eyes, you can easily see the summary of your account on the index page of your account.

Here’s the screen shot.

SEOPinoy.com on it’s 4th year

Didn’t noticed that it’s almost 4 years ago since I started blogging at SEOPinoy.com. I think it’s a milestone for any blog. Back then I didn’t expect this blog to last this long. But thanks to my advertisers for keeping the site alive. Actually I was thinking of selling the domain before when the site was penalized, the domain turned into PR0. I’m thankful that my advertiser didn’t lose faith in my site, and they didn’t cancel their advertisements even the site is PR0. Fortunately the site went back to PR3 and now ranking for very competitive keyword. I guess domain age factor somehow really count in ranking SERP.

New Chapter

Another chapter of SEOpinoy.com will be unfold. And I hope I could allot more time on the site because it needs a lot of work to do. My plan is to accept guest blogger. If someone interested in free guest blogging, kindly drop a comment on this post, and I will contact you through the email you will provide on the comment section.

More to expect

As usual I will provide more SEO tips and strategy. Aside from guest blogging, I’m thinking of revenue sharing and other freebies. Just my way of saying thank you to all the people responsible (indirect/directly) for keeping this site alive for 4 years.

Chrome vs Firefox SERP’s Different?

While testing the latest Google browser Chrome I just noticed something different on my SERP’s. Because I usually find my site on top 10 of the keyword “SEO TIPS”. But after checking it on Chrome, it is nowhere to be found on top 10. So I’ve made couple of keywords search using Google.com/ncr in Google Chrome, and in Mozilla Firefox. And to my surprise, I’ve found out that the results are really different if you will use Chrome of Firefox. Here’s some of the keywords I’ve used.

In Chrome

SEO-TIPS-Chrome

In Firefox

SEO-TIPS-FF

In Chrome, seopinoy.com wasn’t in top 10. But in Firefox it’s now #1 for the keyword ‘SEO Tips’

I’ve used 3 keywords search, this time “make money online”

In Chrome

mmo-chrome

In Firefox

mmo-ff

You will noticed on that image that there’s a slight difference on the search results on top 6.

My third keyword is 1 word only. “Food”

In Chrome

food-chrome

In Firefox

food-ff

Examining the images above, I just noticed that the first 2 keywords that I’m checking was that they have different competitions. So to cut the long story short FF and Chrome might be using different datacenters in getting date for SERPs. I don’t know if it’s what Google design it, or it’s just a coincidence. But nevertheless, it is something that an SEO specialist should get attention about. Different browser, Different SERP’s, Different incoming traffic, and different conversions.

Minor PR Update?

PR UPDATE
Image came from b2b marketing blog

Just recently saw a heads up on my Google buzz that last Sept 15, 2010 there’s a minor PR update. I don’t know what this “minor PR update” means, but I’ve experienced from few years ago. I think the “major PR update” might take place soon. After checking my sites, I’ve seen some changes on the PR of my site. So maybe it’s true that there is a “minor PR update”.

GMAIL Priority Inbox

A quick heads up of the new features on Gmail apps. Yesterday I’ve decided to try the new GMAIL Priority Inbox. And I really like how it turn out to be. It is exactly what I wanted to be. The advantage of this new features is that you can sort the most important email to the least important on the Inbox. Other advantage of this new features is if you’re receiving hundreds of email everyday, you might missed an important email especially if you’re on a vacation and you haven’t check your email for few days. Generally, I think every gmail user must try it. It’s convenient and very useful. Here’s the screenshot of the new Gmail Priority Inbox.

Checking your Robots.Txt

This post is specifically for wordpress users. On this SEO tutorial, I will give a heads up on what is the current problems happening to wordpress installations. For over a year now, I’ve noticed that most of wordpress installation are now disallowing search engine bots to index your site. If you’re not conviced, if you have lots of sites that’s using worpress try these. Open your site URL/robots.txt (seopinoy.com/robots.txt) you will be surprise that you will find atleast 3-5 sites or more that has this line on your robots.txt

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

This code disallow search engine bots to crawl your site or index. The first indication that your site is having this kind of robots.txt is when your site lose PageRank. As I have encounter these hundreds of times checking others website’s robots.txt.

To solve this problem, it’s simple you must upload a robots.txt whenever you will install wordpress on your site that contains this lines:

User-agent: *
Allow: /

If you find this useful, please leave a comment. I just want to know if this situations apply to other hosting company as well. I’m suspecting it’s a default from hosting company, or from wordpress installations. But my other speculation is some crackers, is doing these to eliminate competitions.
